The Rev. Dr. Lawrence (Larry) R. Walters
A native Jayhawker (raised in Kansas and attended the University of Kansas). Father Larry spent 15 years in management for retail and wholesale companies in the Midwest and Northwest before discerning a call to ordained ministry from the Diocese of Idaho.
His formal education is: a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree from Boise State University, a Master of Divinity degree from The School of Theology, University of the South (Sewanee), and a Doctor of Ministry degree in Congregational Development from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary (now Bexley Seabury).
Father Larry’s ministry has been to serve as associate rectors and rectors of several parishes in the Dioceses of Texas, West Missouri, Michigan, and now Indianapolis. He retired as rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Jackson, MI. after 14 years at the end of 2014., and relocated to Indianapolis.
In this diocese, Father Larry has served several parishes (including Church of the Nativity) in short-term and long-term supply priestly roles, and as interim associate rector (part-time) and as priest-in-charge (fulltime) of St. Christopher’s, Carmel, during a time of transition.
Happily married to his wife, Teresa for 48 years, Father Larry has a son and two lovely granddaughters. He serves as Interim Priest until a new priest is called to Nativity.
