PARISH HOPES FOR THE FUTURE:
The responses of the parishioners on the Day of Discovery event, demonstrated that we are enthusiastically looking forward to engaging a priest with leadership qualities who will encourage and get directly involved in many of the activities that have already begun or will be planned and will help us grow in faith and numbers.
We have been on Facebook and had our own website for several years, but more recently the website has been totally re-built to better represent who we are and communicate to our parish. We use MailChimp for our weekly communication.
Our physical space, currently used by Boy Scout Troops, our Labyrinth builder, weddings, karate instruction and more, can be better utilized to help grow membership.
Our hopes for the future are to re-energize many of the fellowship programs and events (Newcomers, Progressive dinner, Scavenger hunts, Foyer Group, Service Group, etc). More importantly bring back Sunday School and children’s programming, to make the church more welcoming to younger families.
We look forward to welcoming an engaging priest, who will give energized sermons that inspire us for the coming week to help us grow in faith and numbers.
GIFTS and SKILLS Needed:
Four words that describe the gifts and skills essential to our future leader are compassionate, engaging, welcoming, and empowering.
Compassionate: We are seeking a priest that is compassionate; caring and loving to all regardless of gender, race or ideals. Someone that is aware of the congregations needs and is concerned about the health and well being of everyone.
Engaging: A person who has engaging, inspirational sermons connecting today’s world with scripture, speaking to us and allowing for “take homes.”
Welcoming: We have always been a welcoming church, so a priest that is welcoming to all is a must. Someone who is approachable. Someone that can make a newcomer feel at ease and comfortable being in a new church.
Empowering: It seems that the key to a good church is an empowering leader. Someone that is passionate about growing our church community, young and old. Someone that can bring about positive connectivity. A good priest will know how to draw the gifts and talents out of its people.
