Our vision is to be a faith community where everyone is welcome and there is inspiration to grow in spirit, learning, worship and outreach.
OUR PLACE OF WORSHIP
We are an Episcopal church located in a peaceful, natural, retreat-like neighborhood setting. We are dedicated to religious inclusiveness, and committed to giving back to the world around us. Active engagement in the life of the church and in the lives of its members and friends is an essential component of our core values.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS WHEN YOU VISIT NATIVITY
As you enter, you will notice an atmosphere of light and reverence. Yet, it will seem like a large, sprawling home complete with a kitchen in the middle. Large windows and conversational seating allow everyone to take their time before and after coming to worship. As you enter the worship space, many notice the openness of the space. A raised basin filled with water is immediately inside the door. This reminds us that we are connected to all Christians through water and the rite of baptism. The large, plain glass windows remind us that we are connected to Creation as we worship and praise the Creator. The seats are gathered around the altar. A large cross bearing a Christus Rex or the Risen Christ is front and center.
Here are some of the things you may notice:
- The service is a celebration filled with color, light, music, and movement.
- Leadership is shared by many, both lay and ordained, men and women.
- The congregation participates actively throughout the service, speaking, singing, standing, bowing. Some make the sign of the cross.
- Sometimes there is silence for personal reflection.
- We use books or booklets for our prayer and singing.
