 Rummage Sale a Success

This week has been quiet around Nativity.  The rummage sale is over – and the parish hall has been cleaned up.  Most of the let over items were taken to the Goodwill,  and the men’s clothing was taken to a group working with homeless veterans.   We had a good number of volunteers who helped box up the left over items on Sunday after the 10:00 a.m. Eucharist.
Proceeds from the sale total $3,950, along with one new folding table.  We are grateful to everyone who donated items for the sale, and to everyone who came and purchased items.  The rummage sale is our largest fund raiser of the year, and your support is important for the success of the sale.
Our thanks to all the volunteers who assisted with the rummage sale – from set-up and pricing, to working during the sale, to the clean up on Sunday.  Special thank to Nan Withington and Annette Nauth, the coordinators for the sale.

Strategic Planning Task Force

The task force is looking at key areas that we believe are important as we plan for Nativity’s future.  At this time we have grouped them into several key areas.  These areas are:

  1. Fellowship/social events; Family/intergenerational activities; and small groups/interest groups

Contacts: Carolyn Wright, Sherry Hyska and Harry Thompson

  1. Learn people’s interests, hobbies and talents; Learn to invite, re-invite and involve

Contacts: Nancy Swank, Jenni Barker and Don Curtis

  1. Community Outreach and Involvement

Contacts: Don Schaefer, Peter Fisher, Fr. Boss

Subgroups of the task force will be meeting over the next couple of weeks to discuss ideas in these areas.  If you have ideas you would like to share please contact one of the persons listed with each area.  I am sure they will welcome you to join them in their meeting and discussion.

A Thought for the Week
The nearer we come to God, the more conscious we become of Him.

On the Lighter Side
In honor of the beginning of the new school year, I want to share the following story with you.
On the first day of school, about midmorning, the kindergarten teacher said, "If anyone has to go to the bathroom, hold up two fingers." A little voice from the back of the room asked, "How will that help?"

This Sunday’s Readings: The Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost – Proper 15

The readings are: Isaiah 5:1-7; Psalm 80:1-2,8-18; Hebrews 11:29-12:2; Luke 12:49-56.

See you at church on Sunday!
